J.G. "Jimmie" Sanders of Clifton Forge, Virginia was elected the 63rd potentate of Kazim Shriners, A.A.O.N.M.S., at its annual meeting on Saturday, January 16, 1982. Sanders was born in Clifton Forge where he attended public schools and from 1937 to 1941 he attended Hampton-Sydney College. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II from 1942 to 1946.

Jimmie is a member of the Clifton Forge Lodge No. 166, Alleghany Royal Arch Chapter #24, Alleghany Commandery No. 23 and Roanoke Scottish Rite Bodies, having the honor of being a 32° K.C.C.H.

Jimmie is married to the former Janet A. Jamison of Boones Mill, VA. They have three children , Mrs. Thelma S. Blair of Bristol, VA, John G. Sanders Jr. of Chesapeake, VA and Ellen S. Leeds of Woodbridge, VA. They also have five grandchildren. Janet and Jimmie are members of the Clifton Forge Baptist Church of which he is a deacon.
